THE SANTA MONICA PROPER HOTEL
It’s been a long time since I have published anything here. With COVID and this crazy year, I was waiting to be a little bit more inspired I guess, so here we go. We recently stayed at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel and completely fell in love with this place.
Proper Hospitality debuted the first Proper Hotel in San Francisco in 2017 followed by the Santa Monica and Austin locations in 2019. All locations look absolutely phenomenal. The next one to open will be the Downtown LA location and we can’t wait to see it.
We were absolutely amazed by the design and choice of furniture for the Santa Monica Proper Hotel. Kelly Wearstler is the American designer responsible of this location and let me tell you that this woman has taste! The pictures below were probably my favorite corners of the main communal space (I believe the bar was Ryan’s favorite).
The guestroom was absolutely amazing, with a perfect combination of modernism, minimalism and nude tones (yes, we had to have a matching outfit to better blend in). We were staying on the 3rd floor, facing the ocean. The hotel did not joke with us: bottle of red wine, chocolate, Aesop products in the bathroom… everything was perfect.
Julien, the manager of the Proper in Santa Monica (and yes another frenchie expatriated in California!), made our stay very special and we highly recommend you to meet with him to learn more about the property and the spirit of this place.
