OUR MID-CENTURY BEACH HOUSE IN LAGUNA BEACH
A year ago, right when the pandemic started, I moved from Long Beach to Laguna Beach, to my boyfriend’s house. After a year living in this beautiful place, I have accumulated a few pictures that I thought would be great to show on this page. It has been so much fun to appreciate Ryan’s incredible taste for design and to incorporate the pieces from my previous place in this magical cottage by the sea. Enjoy and feel free to let me know which part of the house is your favorite.
The living room and open kitchen
When I entered in this house for the first time, the first detail I remembered was this beautiful wooden ceiling fan. Since then, new pieces have been added in this space like those Hans Wegner blond Wishbone Chairs. My dream is to see them on a beautiful concrete floor one day.
The bar
Manhattan, Dirty Martini, Lemon Drop,… we can do it all (well, especially Ryan. He should have been a bartender in another life). I believe this is one of the most charming detail of the house.
The office
This room used to be the main bedroom of the house. With the pandemic and both of us working from home, we really needed a dedicated space to work. We have been able to incorporate few of my pieces from my previous apartment and my favorite one is this vintage Broyhill Brasilia credenza (found at Urban Americana in Long Beach). This is also where we are playing chess from time to time.
The bedroom
This is such a peaceful part of the house. The tree branches right by the window make me feel we are in a cabin somewhere in Big Sur.
The wine cave
… or our main quarantine project. We both like, sorry LOVE, wine and Ryan always wanted to have a part of the house dedicated to it. We basically transformed a part of the garage into a man (and woman) cave. Here again, we have been able to add few of the pieces I add from my previous apartment in Long Beach, like the sofa in the corner.
You can find other space in this house (on top of the obvious restroom and bathroom) but I wanted to keep it simple and focus on my favorite details. I honestly still cannot believe I live here and feel very grateful for it. What is your favorite part of it?
